Wake Forest University has provided me with unique opportunities. Without CNS 360, I probably would not have recognized all the elements I have obtained from my liberal arts education. Focusing my attention on these elements of my liberal arts education has greatly impacted my thinking, or thought process. I now know I have many characteristics and experiences that make me qualified for graduate school, particularly medical school. I now know I can work through the hard times to see the good times. I now know I have the ability to use all possible resources to complete a given assignment. This class has allowed me to put my skills into perspective. Also, the class has showed me how to display these skills through various experiences. My individual education has definitely prepared me for my professional aspirations. My education has instilled in me a hard work ethic, a persistent behavior, and using all possible resources when needed and readily available. In the future, these behaviors can be transferred to any professional aspiration I see fit.
The creation of my ePortfolio has definitely changed my thinking regarding my preparation for life after graduation. Through completing each section of the ePortfolio I see I have the necessary skills I need to make me successful and a thriving individual after graduation. I was able to evaluate each of the four main skills: Technical Literacy, Communication Skills, Personal and Professional Management Skills, and Critical and Problem Solving Skills in their entirety, as well provide proof for each. These four skills are each transferable to any avenue one decides to take after college; therefore, I feel prepared, and I have all I need, for my life after graduation.
In making my ePortfolio, what has surprised me is the experiences I have had that prove the skills I possess. At first glance, one is not aware of the relationship between their experiences and the skills they gained. However, through this class, I was able to connect the dots between my experiences and skills. In light of my goals, the most valuable assignment has been informational interviews. I was able to explore the next steps of my life by asking other individuals questions pertaining to my career of interest. Also, I like the crash course on budgeting. This is particularly helpful since in a few months I will be living in my own apartment. This will be the first time I have my own bills and have to pay for my wants and needs on my own. This process can definitely be helpful to all undergraduates. It will allow for individuals to not wait until the last minute to do a resume, have valuable experiences, and be informed on budgeting. Rather, individuals will be equipped with these skills in advance, and have the opportunity to practice them throughout their undergraduate school.
